The Pleasure is All Mine

Anyone familiar with the tinkle and twine of Björk’s voice will understand why I consider anything she writes and performs poetry. It’s as rigid as crystal with the power of Freyja, but she manages to contain her squall in the purity of pixie dust. Her fifth album, Medulla, was an a capella affair that focused on the limitlessness of the human voice and the range and depth of vocalisation. It’s a testament to her vocal richness and keen eye for experimentation –the most obvious example of these being the first song of the album, “The Pleasure is All Mine.”
